Elio’s Quartet (EQT) is the winner of the 2009 International Jazz Festival in Havana, Cuba. The Quartet consists of talented musicians such as Elio Piedra on drums, Livan Mesa on piano and keyboard, Yunior Arronte on saxophone and keyboard and Yorgis Goiricelaya on bass. All of these musicians have enjoyed a successful career in the music industry and have experience at the national and the international level.
These musicians have had the honor and opportunity to perform in a variety of venues, such as television shows, music festivals (Montreal Jazz Festival, Vancouver’s “Carnaval del Sol”) and Jazz Plaza in Havana, Cuba. Furthermore, they have had the opportunity to share the stage with music stars such as Paquito de Rivera, Luis Enrique, Arturo Sandoval, Chuchito Valdes, Jennifer Holliday, Bobby Carcaces, among many others. The above-mentioned artists have all been Grammy Award-winning artists.
Elio’s Quartet was founded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Quartet’s purpose was to introduce an innovative mixture of styles and sounds, ranging from Smooth Jazz, Gospel, Swing, and Funk, to Classical Music. The Quartet’s roots lies in AfroCuban Latin Jazz, from which they derive their unique rhythms.
Recently EQT was recognized as the Award-winning Quartet at The Global Music Awards. Award Winner at The Akademia Award with their single “FOR JAMES ” as Best Jazz Song for April 2016, also with the album “PATHWAY” as Best Jazz Album for May. They were featured on Majorhitrecords.com as Best New Artist. You can find EQT on NBC12 News, Top40Charts.com among other news outlets online. The group was selected to showcase their new album PATHWAY at The Big Apple Indie Music Series, Tampa Bay, hosted by TBAIMS and MyJamTV.
